Already today there is a correction happening in consumer food choices. The media is full of coverage of the obesity epidemic — and in response, people are learning about what it means to eat more healthily. Already, we're starting to see the rise of "cleaner" and healthier products, in addition to the spread of organic markets and grocery stores that carry more sensible food choices. If consumers do change their eating habits, the food industry will have to adapt accordingly — it will go where the money is.

Yeah, but not only CDC but also government can be wrong, because it's really simple to tell that obesity is a disease and now we all have to fight with it. For me the problem is, who is telling me that it is a disease, who are those people??? Are they scientists, if yes...are they independent, are we sure that nobody is paying them???

of course I agree, that drugs are not solving the problem, but better food choices are. To truly change the direction of public health, we won't need a government regulations but we must build a system that doesn’t keep fast food cheap and fruit and vegetables expensive. Because that is a system that truly isn’t sustainable, or healthy. It is simply a system that keeps big industry wealthy and the population sick.

Because it's another way to do something "good" for drug companies :)

Well, government won't do this, because it need money from sell tax, so...

According to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, only 1 percent of food subsidies go to fruits and vegetables. If we want to get Americans back on a healthier track, then we have to stop making things like corn, meat and dairy (which get 87 percent of subsidies) so much cheaper.

But there is a lot of education program about the junk food, if someone can't stop eating it, may just go for help, buy we don't need government to regulate the market, we need to be more responsible, when we choose food. The power of consumers is really strong, and if they will stop choosing junk food, companies will stop produce it!!!

Yeah, but there are people, who help corpulent people loss some weight, there is a lot of drugs, etc and IT DOESN'T WORK, because if someone want to eat fast food he will be no matter what. And it's not a disease, it's more like an addiction.

I agree, everybody should worry about their own obesity. It's a matter of PERSONAL FREEDOM, because food choices are personal and individual. So government should not tell food companies what they can and can't produce, as well as should not tell people what they can and can't eat. People deserve the right to make their own decisions when it comes to food — even when those choices may not be in their own best interests.
