I think homeschooling is better than public schools. Kids are proven to learn better in well known environment and many colleges prefer homeschoolers. And it is getting a bigger popularity and it seems to be effective. According to Brian D. Ray, Ph.D.

( 2015) " Homeschooling may be the fastest-growing form of education in the United States. Home-based education has also been growing around the world in many other nations (e.g., Australia, Canada, France, Hungary, Japan, Kenya, Russia, Mexico, South Korea, Thailand, and the United Kingdom).

Brian D.Ray, Ph.D. adds: " There are about 2.2 million home-educated students in the United States. There were an estimated 1.73 to 2.35 million children (in grades K to 12) home educated during the spring of 2010 in the United States (Ray, 2011). It appears the homeschool population is continuing to grow (at an estimated 2% to 8% per annum over the past few years)."

Further more the statistics provided appears to be a general overview on a topic and not a scientific survey. Adding to it, Brain D.Ray, stated that there are 2.2 million home educated students in the United States, this figure is diminutive when compared to 319 million population, even though incrementing.

The statistics show little numbers, because it is gaining numbers now and they are increasing .

just to add about the cost of homeschooling

“Question: If Method 1 spends – on a national average – $10,000 per child annually, and Method 2 spends only $500 per child, but Method 2 delivers better academic results, which method is preferable?

Fact: The average government school spends $10,000 per child per year, but its students scored 1.4 points lower than the family sponsored homeschooled child on the ACT, according to results from 2009.”

I think home schooling is may not be good for kids to stay home and learn

its not going to work for all the families it depends on the enviremont of the family

In my opinion I prefer public school more than the home schooling because when you send your kids to the public school they meet other kids who are not like them and they exchange their information and became friends and build their realation and learn how to treat people,

but its different if u will just stay home and teach them how but not practicing

Many parents of homeschoolers DO make arrangements for them to meet other homeschoolers and do limited group activities. Also, some homeschoolers arrange to attend select classes in their local schools (such as science, so they can use the lab). It's not the kind of totally isolated experience that you imagine it to be.

In my opinion Home-schooling and regular public schooling each has pros and cons. One may offer a more controlled environment , while the other may expose him or her to a world of ideas you could not possibly imagine. Making the right choice depends upon how your child learns and what kind of personality and characteristic your child has, and what you would like him or her to learn. Keeping the best interest of your child in mind makes the decision clearer.

As stated by my opponent that, homeschooling provide better learning environment, this argument appears to be weak because, in homes we have leniency towards schedule and moreover it gives you a more comforting surrounding. However, homeschooling could attain popularity if online tutorials are readily available by a specialized guide.

And what exactly is wrong with a comforting environment? Why should students learn in a prison-like building with bars on the windows and metal detectors at doors?

" homeschooling could attain popularity if online tutorials are readily available by a specialized guide"

There are online tutorials for everybody. If you want to learn you will find the way, the information and everything. The desire is the most important.

1-Socializing:

At traditional school, pupils are open to adapt the working environment such as group discussion, meeting, debate and more importantly making friends.

2-Interaction between teacher and students:

Students attending traditional schools have a common platform where the students interact with there teachers on the field of subject. This incorporates more specialized teachers on there specific field to provide broader view for the student.

3-Practical Test:

Traditional schools develop and nurture the candidates ability to face competitive tests such as ACT, SAT, etc., by providing a competitive environment in the classroom and around.

4-Facilities:

There are few privileges available for a student attending traditional school, they are;

-Libraries

-Teachers

-Play grounds and more players to play with

-Discipline, it teaches how to be punctual at various tasks

5-Elaborated knowledge:

I believe home schooling is limited in practical knowledge.

Thank you Samera!

1. Socializing - There is also socializing at homeschooling, there are many other kids and families and you can easily make friends with them.

2. Interaction with teacher - Interaction with teacher is needed maybe in later education in college "specific field to provide broader view for the student." Homeschooler do not need this early interaction in Kindergarten when they learn to read and write or do simple math problems

3.For your information according to Brian D. Ray, Ph.D. (2015) :"Home-educated students typically score above average on the SAT and ACT tests that colleges consider for admissions."

4.facilities

Homeschoolers also have access to libraries, online sourcing.

5. Knowledge

Homeschoolers knowledge is defiantly not limited. They are increasingly being actively recruited by colleges.

-Socializing ability will only improve if we interact with strangers and various unfamiliar groups.

-This debate includes a time period of Kinder-garden to 12, which means interaction with teachers is necessary in all stages.

just to add about socializing:

Brian D. Ray, Ph.D. stated that :

" The home-educated are doing well, typically above average, on measures of social, emotional, and psychological development. Research measures include peer interaction, self-concept, leadership skills, family cohesion, participation in community service, and self-esteem.

Homeschool students are regularly engaged in social and educational activities outside their homes and with people other than their nuclear-family members. They are commonly involved in activities such as field trips, scouting, 4-H, political drives, church ministry, sports teams, and community volunteer work."

I think that sending kids to classrooms are better because they must have a process of learning where they can have contact face to face with theirs teachers, because feelings and sharing with others students is very important in the development and growing of the kids and homeschooling is studying alone in house.
